Sexuality, roses and anythink pink!
The Temple of Aphrodite is situated in the Old Town of Rhodes, a medieval town with picturesque narrow cobblestone streets. The temple dates back to the 3rd century B.C., and is believed to have been built near a port as it was thought that Aphrodite was the goddess of ports. In ancient times, she was considered to be personification of beauty and love. Nowadays, she is often associated with female sexuality and her symbols are roses or anything pink.
Aphrodite was the daughter of Zeus and Dione. Her name means “bright” or "shining" in Greek, but she also has a darker meaning that is usually translated as "fickle." Some stories say her mother was Urania - which would make Aphrodite an immortal goddess like her father.
Aphrodite is the ancient greek goddess of love, beauty and fertility. She's often called the Queen of Heaven, especially by her followers in Athens. The original meaning for "aphros" or "foam", was seafoam generated after she rose from the ocean's waves at Cyprus.
