And when I climbed up these big steps, it was even better than all the pictures I'd seen-there was a big garden outside with a fancy fountain and then these winding stairs that brought you right into the castle.
Hi! I'm Melinda. My dad and mom told me that we were going to Rhodes Old Town on summer 2019. They'd never been there before, but they've seen all the pictures of it on their phone so they wanted to see it for themselves.
We took a shuttle from the airport and then got picked up by our taxi who drove us into town. We found a nice hotel near the center to stay in because my parents said they wanted to explore during the day and sleep in at night. So when we woke up, we went across the street from our hotel where there was this really big castle . My mom and dad got really excited because they'd seen pictures of it on the Internet.
My dad surprised me by getting us tickets to go inside! And when I climbed up these big steps, it was even better than all the pictures I'd seen-there was a big garden outside with a fancy fountain and then these winding stairs that brought you right into the castle. We walked through giant halls with beautiful paintings, and my mind was blown when I saw how close we were to the sea! We walked all around and took a lot of selfies with the castle in the background.
After that we walked through the streets of the old city and stopped at a café for lunch. We ate outside on one of their tables in the shade because it was really hot and sunny out that day. It's funny because my mom didn't want to eat anything, but then she had to go to the restroom so bad she couldn't stand it and she didn't want to leave me alone. But I told her I would be okay, so after about 10 minutes she came back from the restroom. So that was good!
After lunch we walked a little further down the street and my parents liked the architecture there so they took some pictures of it. Then we visited the Jewish Martyrs ' Memorial , which was very different from the big castle we saw earlier.
Our holidays on Rhodes will always be remembered as a really fun experience. And I believe it's one of the best ways to see a new city because you don't have to drive and you get to see all these places that other people can access without too much trouble. It was also great for me because I could learn about history while seeing wonderful monuments and old buildings.
With lots of love, Mel
